This Indonesian Style BBQ Pork Tenderloin recipe is really simple to prepare and Ummm, Ummm good. Delicious and low-cal. An added bonus when summer is just around the corner and it's time to lose the extra padding we tend to put on during the winter months. No need to diet without flavor ... right? Life is just too short to eat flavorless food.

All of the ingredients for this recipe are easy to find; hoisin sauce, or what I like to refer to as Chinese BBQ sauce, is sold in almost every grocery store (at least around these parts) or if not, look for it in an Asian market.

Personally, I like to shop for all of my Asian products in the Asian markets, they tend to have more variety and a lower price. Always try to shop where they sell the most of any ingredient and you will find the prices to be lower.

Since Pork Tenderloin is very lean it should be cooked medium to medium-rare so it stays juicy. If overcooked, it will be dry, chewy.

    I don't like dry, chewy ... do you? I didn't think so.

I like to serve this with Carrot Ginger Risotto or steamed Jasmine rice.

LindySez: This recipe does need to marinate for at least 30 minutes and up to an hour. Don't marinate it for more than an hour as the acid in the lime juice will start to soften the texture of the meat.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound pork tenderloin
    • 3 tablespoons lime juice
    • 1 tablespoon grated ginger root
    • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
    • 1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce optional if you don't want it to hot
    • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • 2 cloves garlic minced (about 1 teaspoon) or more, to taste

    Instructions

    • Remove all silver skin from the tenderloin. Place the remaining ingredients into a zip-top bag, squish around to mix. Add the tenderloin; marinate at least 30 minutes and up to one hour.
    • Lightly coat the grids of your grill with oil or cooking spray; heat to medium-hot. Remove the tenderloin from the marinade, reserving the marinade. Place the tenderloin on the grill; cover and cook about 30 minutes, turning occasionally and basting with the reserved marinade. Discard any unused marinade. Allow the roast to rest 5 minutes, slice into ¼ inch slices, and serve.

    Hi, I'm Lindy.

I am a home-trained chef who loves to cook and eat delicious food. As I like to say, "Life is too short to eat mediocre food". And I find too much food out there is mediocre. I don't think good food needs to be fussy, or difficult to prepare. Most of my recipes are fresh, quick, easy, and tasty while keeping both calories and fats in check.
