Ingredients

  • 6 slices applewood bacon
  • 1 green pepper diced fine
  • 1 sweet onion diced
  • 1 6-ounce can crushed pineapple, drained (or you could use fresh pineapple finely diced)
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 14.5 ounce cans pork and beans in tomato sauce, partially drained

Instructions

  • In a large skillet cook the bacon until crisp. Remove from the pan and crumble. Pour off most of the drippings leaving just enough to saute the pepper and onion.
Saute the pepper and onion for about 5 minutes, or until softened.
Add the pineapple, ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire, mix well.
Add the beans and bacon to the pan and stir to combine. Pour into a casserole dish and bake at 300 degrees for about an hour.

Notes

To prepare in a crockpot, follow the directions as stated, but place the prepared ingredients into your crockpot, cook for 3 hours on low or 1 hour on high.
